McCormack Family Farms

McCormack Farm's story starts over 40 years ago, and has kept growing ever since. In 1966, Edward McCormack began work at Warrenstown Horticultural College, Drumree, County Meath. It is here that his love of the land took seed and began to grow.
He worked in growing the nursery and growing in glasshouses. Edward then stayed on at Warrenstown throughout the 1970s, working mostly as a salesman for the college. In 1984, he finally decided to strike out and begin his own farming business, growing various vegetables, including; broccoli and lettuce and selling them directly to the Smithfield Market in Dublin.
During this time, Edward’s young son Stephen also started helping his father on the farm. From 1984 to 1998, the main focus of the McCormack business was the growing and selling of vegetables to the Smithfield Market with some Food Service customers outside the market also.
During this same period, Stephen graduated from Warrenstown Horticultural College and began working full time on the farm. In 1998, Edward and Stephen decided to start growing herbs alongside their vegetables, and this move proved to be most encouraging for the duo. In 2000, they decided to drop vegetable growing altogether and focus their efforts on herbs and baby leaf production. Their decision came from the fact that these products were being imported from the continent and they felt an Irish company could produce them just as well!
-----------------
Also at this time, Ireland was experiencing a food culture revival and chefs were looking for new culinary lines to add to their menu; Stephen and Eddie identified baby leaf and herbs as an area that would grow, due to their popularity internationally. Finally in 2007, having spent the best part of 20 years selling directly to business, the company earned its first retail account, by selling its herbs and baby leaf to Superquinn. Since then, McCormack’s has gone from strength to strength, and today, is a supplier to all of the top retailers in Ireland, including; Lidl, Tesco and Dunnes Stores. We also supply all fresh cut and potted herbs for the SuperValu private label.
McCormack's Farm continue to grow superb quality Irish produce, and have grown local employment in the area at the same time. From 6 staff, they now employ 83 staff. The community is so important to them and they are very proud to be located in the fertile lands of County Meath, near the Hill of Tara, Trim town and Castle and Killeen Castle.
